Lost in the lens

I set the shutter speed and then the aperture. Adjusting my lens’ focus to capture. Some hand-sized flycatchers bouncing around bougainvillea shrubs. The yellow beak of a Myna chirps frantically at the sight of cats. The ivory dove is always alone. Mischievous pigeons stepping around puddles, constantly flapping the feathers. Widest aperture encapsulates the Diwali lights with bokeh. Consistent tides in the never-ending sea over which the boats float calmly. Faster shutter speed catches the seagulls in stopped motion. Sun setting with pink hues mixed with the dark blues in blurry views of Dún Laoghaire. A mystical purple sunbird flying like an illustration on a black canvas. It sits with a sophisticated grace on the neem tree. Eyes of gold and smiles that spread across flushed faces. Lowest shutter speed to draw with the moonlight in the Dublin sky. High sensitivity of the sensor unblinds the night’s darkness. Empty roads with musical leaves rolling through the breeze as I wait for the 46A. Glass windows tinted with raindrops blurry with abstract dreams. Blanket of snow engulfing Helsinki’s homes. Rearranging the focal length and observing butterflies; mesmerized by petals of rose and hibiscuses. The paper airplane follows the wind’s gust forever in the photograph.
